George III (1760-1820),gold Third Guinea by Lewis Pingo, 1797, first type, first laureate head right, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, GEORGIVS III DEI GRATIA.,rev. large crown, date in legend surrounding commencing at lower left, .MAG. BRI. FR. ET. HIB. REX. weight 2.79g (Schneider -; Bull EGC 867 Dies A/1; MCE 449; S.3738).Rich copper red tone, some flecking and light hairlines, good very fine, first year of denomination.

The Latin legends translate as on obverse "George III by the grace of God" and on the reverse "King of Great Britain, France and Ireland."

The gold output for the calendar year of 1797 was £2,00,297, of which £315,000 were allocated to Third Guineas.
